The Untranslated Tab</H3> 88 <P>The Untranslated tab view, like all tab views, looks and functions differently 89 when working with the resource bundle as a whole than when working with 90 an individual resource file. For an overview of this difference see <A HREF="view1.html">View 91 1</A>. The Untranslated tab view is most often used when working with 92 individual resource files, and is probably the largest convenience that 93 RB Manager offers over other methods of working with resource bundles.</P> 94 <P><B>Working with a Resource Bundle</B></P> 95 <P>The screen shot below shows RB Manager and a view of untranslated items 96 for the entire resource bundle.</P> 97 <P><IMG SRC="../images/screenshots/view_untrans_bundle.gif" WIDTH="671" HEIGHT="543"></P> 98 <P>From this view, resource bundles can not be edited. To do this you either 99 have to go to the Groups tab view or select an individual resource file. 100 The view is useful though for getting a picture of the translation status 101 of the entire resource bundle.</P> 102 <P>In this view, each of the resource files is represented and the number 103 of untranslated items is displayed as well as the resource key for each 104 of those items. Scrolling up and down the view gives a complete look at 105 the various files.</P> 106 <P><B>Working with a Resource File</B></P> 107 <P>The next screen shot shows the Untranslated tab view when working with 108 an individual resource file. This is the view translators will probably 109 use the most.</P> 110 <P><IMG SRC="../images/screenshots/view_untrans_file.gif" WIDTH="671" HEIGHT="543"></P> 111 <P>Listed in the table is each of the resource currently marked as untranslated 112 (for more on the meta data associated with each resource, see the <A HREF="../tutorial/index.html">Tutorial</A>). 113 The table shows the resource key and group of the resource, which can 114 not be edited from a resource file view, and the translation of the resource, 115 which can be edited here.</P> 116 <P>To translate a resource, simply double click the row containing the resource. 117 A dialog box will pop up allowing the resource file specific elements 118 of the resource to be edited. That dialog box is shown here. Its use can 119 be found in the Tutorial.</P> 120 <P><IMG SRC="../images/screenshots/view_untrans_dialog0.gif" WIDTH="513" HEIGHT="269"></P> 121 <P>In some cases, you may want to leave the translation as it stands. This 122 is common for instance when working with variants of a language with little 123 change from the language parent (e.g. Canadian English and U.S. English 124 have relatively few differences).</P> 125 <P>There are two ways to handle this. One way is to select the resource 126 and mark it as translated. This can be done by pressing the 'Mark Resource 127 as Translated' button or double clicking the resource, checking the 'Translated' 128 check box and clicking the 'Edit' button. The other way is to remove the 129 resource from the resource file by selecting the resource and clicking 130 'Delete Resource'.</P> 131 <P>Either way, the resource bundle should act the same when presenting translations 132 to the user. In the former case, the translation from the resource file 133 is used. In the latter case, the translation falls back to the one found 134 in an ancestor resource file.</P> 135 <P>Note that only one resource can be edited at a time in the current version 136 of RB Manager.
